So somewhere towards the start of this thread I posted about the audio problems I was also getting (glitching, stuttering, slowing speed, crackles, drop outs, clicks, pops) with my Win 7 64 bit PC with a NI Audio 8 DJ USB audio interface, problems that develop over time, when playing audio from iTunes, Windows Media Player, Firefox, Flash videos, YouTube etc.Ī quick disconnection and reconnection of the the USB cable/plug at the NI Audio 8 DJ resolves the issues temporarily, but they always come back again.

In fact if it does not change I shall consider giving people a caveat on forums to the effect."Brilliant hardware and drivers but DON'T expect any help!" (or at least from a human being!) the interface.Dislike intensely NI's Byzantine attitude. Just today I have stuck the KA control panel to the taskbar and a re-start and power off-on gave instant lock. This happens at 80% of starts but sometimes it does lock. The AI does not lock on the desktop at power up and I have to re-plug it when it always works fine. Two things: When I power up either the HP desktop or my HP i3 laptop with the KA6 I get a loud POP! thru the monitors. It has run till now, Thursday with hardly a glitch (which could be in'net) It is certainly AS reliable as the M-A2496 that normally does this duty.

Last Sunday I rigged my KA6 to my HP,W7/64 desktop and ran Radio 3 out. Wish I could say the same for NI! I though Steinberg and MAGIX were snotty and impersonal but NI got them beat!Ī guy on Sound on Sound forum reckons his AI clicks and plops when playing internet material or WMP but is fine on sound out of a DAW like Reaper. I have had a KA6 for over 2 years now and my experience of the AI has been almost all good. Just make sure you have the rate also set to 48.000 in the KA6 Control Panel, so you avoid the above mentioned sound issue.īut I had a talk with the support, and it seems it is an issue that could only be solved by a driver update (KA6 and Window's WASAPI seem to clash, which is why we have those problems on Youtube and iTunes, but not in a DAW like Ableton, which doesn't utilize WASAPI) So if 48.000 works for you fine, then that's cool. Is it the same with your computer/device? Could be some conversion issue.ĮDIT: Nevermind I heard that ringing because i changed it to 48.000, but left the settings in the KA6 Control Panel at 44.100. With 44.100 it sounds normal to me, with 48.000 I hear some strange metallic distortion in the background every time the piano hits. Just listen to the first 30 seconds where the piano is playing (crank the volume up a bit, because the part is very quiet). Try to listen the following song on Youtube with 44.100 and 48.000: Actually I noticed some kind of metallic ringing in the audio with 48.000. I doubt changing the rate to 48.000Hz fixes anything.
